Falcons’ QB Ryan Griffin will have surgery in early November

The Atlanta Falcons announced Wednesday that they have signed Ryan Griffin to a one-year contract extension, keeping him with the team through the 2019 season.

The Falcons are looking to extend their starting quarterback, who was signed by Atlanta as an undrafted free agent last year.

The team will also sign veteran guard Jahri Evans, who is entering his third season with the organization.

The Falcons are expected to announce a new quarterback at the NFL Scouting Combine later this month.

The extension is a one year deal worth $5 million, the team announced.

Griffin was a sixth-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2013.
